STYLE NOTES:
When the makeup artist for Cleopatra became ill, Liz remembered the techniques he had taught her and did her iconic Cleopatra makeup herself.

Costumer Edith Head's designs for Liz in A Place in the Sun influenced "young miss" collections nationwide. Her white party dress with a daisy-covered bust was the the country's most popular prom dress that season.

After Cat on a Hot Tin Roof came out, the white chiffon dress Liz sported in the film was released as a product under the designer Helen Rose's label, she says, and "took the fashion world by storm for years and sold by the housands in every size and color. It was known as The Cat Dress." Helen Rose received a letter saying how it was "one of the most remarkable dresses in fashion history... it made the very thin, curvaceous and seductive - it made the plump, svelte - it gave grace to the tall - and stature to the short."

Elizabeth loves jewelry and has many fabulous pieces, often gifts from the men in her life. Recently she wrote a book entitled My Love Affair with Jewelry in which she shows off her collection, including snippets about the origin of each piece.

Liz moved into the fashion world by creating her own perfume company. Scents released under her name include Passion, White Diamonds, Diamonds and Rubies, Diamonds and Emeralds, Diamonds and Sapphires, and Black Pearls.

A fashion story inspired by Liz Taylor's white one-piece and that Tennessee Williams goth.
"Elizabeth Taylor was having none of that “one-piece suit made of white lisle” that her cousin bought her to procure young men in Cabeza de Lobo—she called it “a scandal to the jay-birds!” But we found it drop-dead gorgeous, thus making Scene 7 of the Tennessee Williams camp-classic the inspiration for this swimwear preview. Sebastian, we believe, would approve."
